Chronology of the most important events in the curriculum vitae di Giuseppe Patanč

 

  • Born in Catania (Italy) on the  February, 18th,1972
  • Since 1996 (the year when he began his ``laurea'' thesis) until 2001 (the year when he got his Ph.D in computer science), he had been working at the Institute of Computer Science and Telecommunications at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Catania (Italy).
  • On the 25th July 1997 he got his ``laurea'' (Master degree) in Electronic Engineering (Telecommunications) at the University of Catania (graduating marks: 110/110).
  • In 1998, at the University of Catania, he got the qualification for practicing as an engineer.
  • In 1997/98 he performed the military service.
  • In March 1998 he won a competition for the admission to the Ph.D. course in computer science at the University of Palermo (Italy)
  • Since 1999 he has also been associated to the National Institute for the Nuclear Physics (INFN), at the department of Catania.
  • In 1999, he contributed to the creation of PACOLAB, a laboratory for high performance distributed scientific computing, supervised by Prof. Marco Russo. Since then he has been the system manager.
  • In 1999 he was the manager of the computer system at the ``Prefettura'' (Prefecture) of Messina (Italy).
  • Since 11th July to 11th September 2000 he had performed his research at the Computer Science and Mathematics Division of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee, USA. He dealt with high-performance protocols for message passing inter-process communication under the supervision of Al Geist.
  • In 2001 he won a competition for a 4-year grant at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Messina (Italy) for working at the project ``Smart High Performance Computing''.
  • In 2001 he got the Ph.D in Computer Science at the University of Palermo (Italy).
  • In 2004 he joined the Memory Production Group (MPG) at ST Microelectronics in Catania (Italy) as a product engineer.
